Samsung will provide 4 years of system updates and 5 years of security updates on its devices

Samsung announced good news for holders of upcoming Galaxy phones, especially the flagship ones, which is to increase the period of their access to system updates for a period of 4 years and the duration of security updates to 5 years.

Most Android phone manufacturers have been releasing system updates for between two and three years, and Samsung announced two years ago its plan to make system updates up to 3 years from the date of purchasing the phone, but now the user will be able to get the latest Android system over 4 years.

The updates will include tablets and smartwatches as well as phones, and they will all receive 5 years of security updates.

List of Samsung Galaxy phones and Galaxy Tab devices that will get updates for 4 years:

  • Galaxy S series: Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, S21 FE, and Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, and future generations.
  • Galaxy Z series: Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip, and foldable phones in the coming years.
  • Galaxy Tab tablets: Galaxy TabS8, S8+, S8 Ultra, and later.
  • Galaxy Smart Watches Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch4 Classic, and beyond.

Yesterday, Samsung announced its latest flagship phones from the Galaxy S22 series with three phones, led by the Ultra version, which represents a Note phone more than the usual S series phones, as well as announcing the Tab S8 series of tablets with three devices as well.
